Knitting Astroturf

So, last night, instead of say, finishing the 12000 projects I currently have on the needles (I couldn't find a ball of yarn for Molly's thing, Mom's forsythia is metro only, the needles I needed for icylove are in use for Mom's forsythia), I decided to shell out $5 and get me a bucket-o-chic.

I agree with the comments. This pattern is exceptionally weird. For one thing, she wants you to count 126 rows. Not stitches, rows. No joke.

And then there's the double stranding in one place. I'm knitting this out of eyelash. We shall see.

But anyway, I've swatched and cast on (cannibalizing needles from Molly's thing. Don't tell!).

I'm knitting peacock fun fur stranded with kitchen cotton (or something, I'm at work) in fern. The result? I look like I'm knitting astroturf.

Silly question though. Anyone know why the purl side is much furrier than the knit side? I assume I have to simply brush it out, but it does seem a little odd...
