SEPTEMBER 2ND?!

OK, I'm fired as a knit blogger. But I swear I have a good reason.

See, I moved at the beginning of the month. And even though I have no furniture, it's still a lot of effort to pack up your earthly belongings, move them cross town and then unpack them in a way that suits you. Also, in doing so, my aunt shanghaied my computer.

Then, my work went crazy busy. And I'm doing this whole 'cooking for oneself' thing. And going grocery shopping. And to the gym. And I've managed to go out drinking for 8 of the past 10 days. Dude, living is expensive. Which is why the whole work thing is nice, except that I don't get the whole overtime thing. Alas.

The main point of this post was to do that whole Secret Pal reveal thing that everyone else did oh, say, last month. I had fun spoiling Jennifer, despite my spinning wheel breaking in the midst of my projects for her. Luckily, it sounds like she enjoyed it too.

I got my final from my SP5, who introduced herself as the very busy Karon who still managed to send me three great packages, including my final one:

Two skeins of Lorna's Laces, size 1 DPNs and a copy of KnitLit. I will definitely use the DPNs to make a fine pair of socks for someone. And then I will weep at giving them up, because OMG THE NICE YARN.

In the space between receiving the package and this entry, I've now read the book. How do I feel about this one? I like it quite a bit, but it doesn't thrill me. Too many stories had the same tone. I mean, it's not like there are knitting rock star stories, but everything sounded the same. I'll give the next few a try, especially since I know someone who's in KL3.

Anyway, life continues. I'm mostly through with the wedding afghan and I'm definitely going to run out of yarn, which sucks because the wedding is, well, Sunday and I don't have time to run out to AC Moore's to pick up three skeins of woolease kind of ever and I certainly can't get this finished and shipped in the next week. HA! It is to laugh. I also managed to miss an opportunity to get published off of a website that I own because it happened in the midst of the moving work craziness and now it's nearly a month later, which is far too late to submit a 500 word sample. Though part of me wonders if it's anything like the Maran Knitting & Crochet book which spammed blogs in a (successful) attempt to get PR a few months ago.

I've got a small pattern to post here soon, and it looks like I may actually get published in the next few months. In like, a real magazine. Well, a real internet magazine. It counts. Really. I swear. Shut up, it totally does!

And just in time for autumn, I've got a tank top pattern ready to submit around. Oh dear. I quit.

I'm kind of hoping this cold I'm fighting will actually catch up with me tomorrow, so I can stay home and catch my breath. Catch my breath. With a chest cold. Get it?
