Knitting Goddess #9
Sunday, June 29, 2003
Was going to post last night, but my computer decided to be annoying.
Neck decreases for icylove! Huzzah! Had to rewrite the pattern though. And it looks like I was about 6 stitches short of what I originally set out for myself. Hopefully will still fit...
Denise Kit is ordered. Comments are being stupid, but that is life as usual.

Have finished hearts on new incarnation of icy love.
This is why I have crowned myself a knitting goddess in the past. And gifted myself with carpal tunnel syndrome.

Was going to post this last night, but Blogger decided to revamp its entire site. Looks very pretty, actually.
Parents have decided to give me The Denise Kit for my birthday. I helped them decided, of course.
I'm such a spoiled brat. And I love it.

Icylove is no more. It has ceased to be.
I ripped the entire damn thing out and am starting over.
The main problem was I did too many bust increases and so had 2"-3" too much on the boobs- not attractive. I decided (with Mom's input) that stockinette will look more attractive (and draw less attention tummywards) than k2p2 rib. This means I have to redesign the whole darn thing. Yucky.
Reswatched after making the hugest yarn mess ever. How is it that 20 stitches = 3.85"? I'm seriously one stitch short of 4". Blarg. I'll reswatch to see if 22 makes 4", but I have a feeling it'll be slightly over.
Also decided to recycle the yarn used in an Arachne shrug I made a couple of years ago. Doesn't fit right and I don't like it. I'll probably remake it into something like this, maybe. That's just a thought though. And it costs $8 and I'd probably need more black wool. But is pretty!

Argh.
Icy love will probably lose at least 6 inches vertically.
I'd finished the v-neck decreases and was starting the back and slipped it on. It's about 3 inches too big (over a workout tank top) especially around the boobs- probably because I went from k2p2 rib to stockinette.
This is good, because I really hated how the increases looked.
So, will lost between 6-8 inches vertically and two or three horizontally.
Good to get things right, but still, that was waay over a day's work.
And my wrist is clicking again. Why did my room swallow my wrist brace?

I woke up this morning with the idea to felt a sweater in the back of my mind.
This is, of course, the worst idea ever.
But I may felt the blanket I'm going to make for myself out of the wool I spun... I think that'd be viable...

New Reason Why I Shouldn't Be Allowed to Design Things:
My original plan for underarm cast offs is a total of 8 stitches per armhole. That's about an inch.
Time to rip out. And I'd just gotten one side on a stitch holder.

I totally need to make this bag. Maybe with the plate as a blue instead of a yellow, but still...

Have started to compile a list of knitting charities. (check here) Suggestions always welcome.
Still haven't reached the underarm castoff for icylove yet. Arg.

So, I will not be selling the cat hats anymore, as apparently, it is illegal. Oops.
Not that I got any orders over the web. I assume it's not illegal to make one for a friend who is so grateful they give you $10 for it. Not that I would ever, EVER do such a thing.
Why didn't I go to law school again?
Right, knitting is more fun.

OK, so I don't know how much progress I'll be making in the knitting world lately. My wrist is killing me from too much computer (work and home) and book buyback at work (a bunch of heavy textbooks in one hand and a lot of twisting of said hand).
It's getting to the point where I may or may not have been experiencing numbness in my fingers, which is a sign of further damage and that I've moved from tendonitis to carpal tunnel (woo!). So! No knitting for a while or not a lot of updating for a while. Either way...
No updates for you!

I suppose I can't complain. It's free and you get what you pay for.

Well, I checked the blog for comments and panicked cuz commenting ability seemed to have vanished.
Since I nearly broke blogger this morning when I forgot a couple of quotes, I panicked, and ran to the website. Looked over the FAQs, clicked the forum link, and opened up a new page to check my blog again. Lo and behold, the comments are back.
Ok, enetation. Fine. Whatever.

So, the new knitty is out, and while I think this and this are really cute, nothing else really excited me. And hey, I can't make the eyelet skirt because they only have it for 40" hips. I have 47" hips. Kiss my ass, knitty.
Weren't you supposed to be a free, fun knitting magazine for everyone out there? Don't you require 5 sizes for each pattern submitted? What's up with that?
I'm not going to make the grass skirt because I have about 10 projects for the summer, most of which are month long projects. And the bikini tops fail to excite those of us who do not have washboard abs. (As in, most of the women in America)
So, my other options are a bunch of kid's clothes, a few hats, a few bags, finger puppers and golf club covers.
Apparently, the articles are good, but I almost never read knitting articles, and the ones I looked at were either incomprehensible or unexciting. Of course, I did look around midnight.
Off to retail I go!

Hey, I have time now!
Looking at icylove, I don't know how I feel about this:
I mean it's still cute, but I don't know if I like how big a difference there is between the k2p2 rib and the stockinette pattern. And I may or may not have pulled yarn too tightly in some places.
But I'm definitely looking forward to sitcom slut.
So, here're the pictures my brother took of me wearing sitcom sweater. He managed to get me with my eyes closed on both.

I swear, there will be pictures soon.
I have a digital camera but I'm lazy.
And eventually I'll rewrite the sitcom saga. Stupid crashing IE.

have made it to the hearts on icy love. Please let this thing fit.
I forgot to wash the swatch, so I don't know if it will shrink or not.
Hey, maybe THAT's what's up with Mom's forsythia?

Well, now I can't remember when I started icylove.
But I figured out the neck, shoulder and arm decreases. I'm still not sure about the neckband or not.
And I finished the decreases for the waist and am now doing the boob increases. Already on the third of 9 skeins of yarn. Keeping the fingers crossed.
Realized the cherry top would be perfect for a party/play thing a week from Saturday. Un uh. Not gonna happen.

Oh, with the comment stupidness...
Are people using weird browsers? enetation.co.uk should work with Netscape, IE and Opera, but I make no guarantees if you use a freakish server...
Hrm... Perhaps I should find a good guestbook as well? Or is that a little too I'm 13 and have my own website?

Well, this is very belated, but it is arts and crafts. My graduation cap:
Sequins and stars are gluegunned on after I sawed the stars off of a headband. Had to staple the fabric to the hat to stabilize it and the hat had gone limp (heh) by the time I walked to get my diploma.
Ah well, I was still damn sexy.
Icy love is definitely progressing. But, according to my design, I've done five of seven decreases, and should be around 4-5". Instead I'm probably at around 3".
And apparently my commenting is being stupid.
