Moving on up...

So, I'm moving.

I'm moving from my aunt's house to a house with actual roommates that is near public transportation. This means a severe rent increase but also perks like independence! the ability to go home without telling my aunt! not walking the dog!

But this also means packing. Packing a lot. Amazingly, despite having no real possessions despite my wheel, I have a lot of crap. My room is nothing but boxes and garbage bags and suitcases. Probably a little over two carloads, I think (not counting furniture). Which is pretty light, when you think about it.

See this bag?

That's one of three full garbage bags. That have nothing but yarn in them. I think I have more yarn than clothes. Scary? To me, it really is. It's scarier that I know a lot of people who own a LOT more yarn. This isn't even my whole stash. I moved to DC three months after graduating college. It was going to be a temporary move when I took a 9 month internship. I left the majority of the stash at my parents house.

That was two years ago. So, all of this stash is new stash. I am scared.

Anyway, the real reason I was posting is that I'm in the middle of an afghan for some friends of mine that are getting married in the end of September. I ran out of one of the yarns for it. It really sucks trying to find this:

I'll be really happy when this move is over.

Off to go fill another suitcase.

My wrist has been killing me so I haven't been knitting. I've tried spinning, though my wheel has developed a squeak in the rodman, despite oil. I attempted to fix it by tightening a nut and now have a squeaky wheel that jerks to make it well nigh unuseable.

So, here's some awesome fiber art.

This is The Mockery of the Fig Ladies by Ming-Yi Sung (I think. I took the pictures with my camera phone and it didn't come out well). It's crocheted and I think this is just awesome.

It's currently hanging on the wall of the DC Arts Center in Adams Morgan in Washington, DC. If you've never been there, run, don't walk, some night and go see a show in the black box theater (DC WIT!) and wander around this great loft performance space. And then go across the street and have a slice of pizza the size of a small child.

Clearly, this blog is suffering from blog depression.
