I'M PUBLISHED BABY!

I'd show you some of my reject pics, but I'm at work and they're all on my home computer.

And since the fair isle chart appears to have gone missing from the pattern, here it is for all of you kids at home:

Spinses!

So, for some reason, coming home from Rhinebeck has made me really, really want to spin.

And so, I finished karakul sheep roving that I promised to Give a Little on top of my supergay comforter.

It was about 270 yards prewash, so it's probably about 250 now. The wash managed to felt it together a little bit. I'm really proud of this yarn. It came together beautifully. I got the wool from a stall at Maryland Sheep & Wool - a stall of sheep, by the way. Most of the balls had labels from the sheep - alas, mine did not. Therefore, I shall name it as from a sheep named Edgar. It's a purty oatmeal color. I'm a little sad to give it away, but I know it'll go to a good home.

A Wedding Afghan

Two friends of mine got married in September, and while I couldn't make it out to North Carolina to be there, I sent them this:

It's made out of Wool Ease (quiet, yarn snobs! I wanted something they could throw in the washer!) held double on size 15s. It's a basic feather and fan pattern I took from a vintage afghan book (pictured here) and then modified so completely it's not even the same pattern anymore.

I think it took a month. I'm happy with how it came out and I hope they enjoy my color choices! I just wanted to make them something you could throw on the back of a couch.

I finished this, mailed it out and then found out two days later that one of my friends/coworkers is getting married. Which means it's time for another afghan. Luckily, they're not getting married until April, so I don't have to work on that AND Christmas knitting at the same time.

One more Rhinebeck photo...

This one's for Jessi...

Rhinebeck in a Nutshell

Paula and I drove almost 8 hours from Greenbelt, MD to Albany on Friday (in the NEVER ENDING RAIN), met up with Anne and crashed at a HoJo's (classy!), and then got up the next day and drove down. Google directions got us spectacularly lost, we asked for directions in Saugerties and got some that would have gotten us even loster. I didn't take any pictures, but upstate New York is very picturesque. We apparently drove through the town where my grandfather grew up (Kingston).

Despite all of that, we made our way to Rhinebeck just in time for the sun to come out.

I saw lots of wild creatures...

Met up with some bloggers (Team Georgia, Team Long Island, and a bunch of folks in the Poughkeepsie Mariott on Saturday night)...

And forgot to take pictures...

And brought home the spoils...

I think I spent more getting to Rhinebeck than I actually spent at Rhinebeck, but all in all, it was a very fun weekend away.

Joining the Contingent

I, too, will be at Rhinebeck.

I'll probably be wearing an 'I Knit' baseball cap and coughing quite a bit (Colds. They suck) and limping (damn foot injuries).

SO! Picture requests? Make them now. Buy you yarn? What kind and what will you pay me back? Introduce yourself to me? Please! But give blog names!

In other news, check out the silverjewelryclub.com jewelry free goodness! OK, yes, you pay shipping and handling and pendants may be much much smaller than they appear, but it's probably cheaper and easier than knitting socks for everyone for Christmas, right? Right?

But... but...

So, I'm still working on the Madli shawl that I was working on in June. There are just a few small problems.

The bottom of the shawl:

The top of the shawl:

Oops, the lace got away from me there, right? Just rip back and keep going! Totally not a problem, right?

Problem:

I am at 26 out of 31 repeats. I have been working on this shawl for THREE MONTHS. I have HOLIDAY KNITTING because I am poor! 8 pairs of socks and at least three hats that I HAVEN'T EVEN BOUGHT YARN FOR YET. The increases happened around REPEAT 10!

THREE MONTHS. TEENY TINY NEEDLES. WRIST STRAIN. Oh no. I didn'n.

The worst part is - this? not the first time. So very not.

And yes, I know that if I did some fudging and got it back to 7 repeats, it would, in fact, haunt me for the end of my days.

Time for a new project. Frogging icylove to make a cabled aran that actually fits and is flattering.

But first, will someone frog my shawl for me? I would but I... can't do it myself.
