Clap-oh-poop
So, I finished my clapotis. The mother blocked out HUGE. I mean HUGE. It looks like old lady shawl and not as graceful as I wanted it to be. It's also taller than I am, which means it's too long and wider than my width from top shoulder to elbow. Too wide, too long. No time to reknit for the wedding I was thinking about wearing it to in April.
This project gets a C for suck.
That? Oh, that's just my brain leaking from my ears...
This pattern is killing me.
See how the panel curves to the left? No, it's not a liberal afghan or how it sits on the bedspread. Nope. It's from the pattern.
Here is the pattern. ANd what's killing me is the "full entrelac with right sade facing" set up (Row 3). There's no allowance for the side half triangles. Without those, you don't get a rectangle and the knitting buckles. At least, I think it does. Have I mentioned that I've never done this before? The picture sure looks like it has the side triangles on both sides though the pattern explicitly states that you should do 4 full squares for the right side and 3.5 squares for the wrong side.
Anyway, I added a mini triangle, so I think it works now (I think). I could rip everything out and fix it from the beginning, but I'm on a deadline here, people. A deadline that I know that I will not meet. But I have to try.
Next on the agenda... learn to read a pattern!
Too bad I didn't think to take a before picture. Totally added a "Repeat from * 3 times" in a place where it didn't belong. Entrelac is pretty. But my goodness, the ends! The ends that will be sewn in later!
But... but... I don't get it!
OK, this is something that hasn't happened to me in years.
I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. In a knitting pattern.
Now, this isn't sewing, which I've decided I need to start doing recently and could be written in German for most of the instructions. No.
I'm trying to make an afghan for my friend's upcoming wedding. I'm trying to follow
this pattern. Right about when it gets to the full entrelac panel... I am officially clueless. Because I get either triangles or weird non square shaped things.
I don't get it!
