Still Showing Off

So, a friend of mine (and some of his friends) started an online magazine in January and I've been writing articles for them ever since, mainly giving bad advice or reviewing bad books. But check out my latest article. It's about knitting.

In other news, I decided the other day that I needed knit a boobholder. So I printed out the pattern, dug up some leftover cotton and cast on. And became almost instantly confused reading the pattern. You do all of these increases and then try it on and... do you ever separate the sleeves? This will never fit me. This pattern can't be flawed because everyone and their mother has made one. And why does the buttonhole happen so late? Oh wait. It's a top down.

If you'll excuse me, I've got to go hide in a corner, embarrassed.

Show off.

So, I finished some spinning...

This is "Midnight Shadows" - a white tussah silk, black merino combination from Little Barn. I picked it up at Rhinebeck and have just now finish it. Shut up. It wasn't like it was the last thing I spun since I finished that pink sparkly stuff in December. Oh wait. It WAS.

In an unprecedented move, almost immediately after plying, skeining and setting the twist, I actually started knitting my handspin.

A Clapotis! A much smaller clapotis than last time. I'm actally enjoying how the silk pops up. There is, however, a sad thing:

You probably can't tell from the shot, but this is the Clapotis tragedy that occurs when you drop a stitch and realize that somehow you got your count off and you have dropped the WRONG STITCH. Yes, the WRONG STITCH. After moving on for three more repeats. It's OK, I'll just sew the loop into the scarf, but I'm beginning to think this project may be cursed.

Warming Grace

Here's my square for the Warming Grace project. I'm a big dumbhead and haven't sent it off yet (hopefully next week, along with Anne's t-shirt. It's a basic washcloth pattern in some Flirt (God I hate that picture) remnants. I think it's pink. I'm sure everyone else would call it cranberry, but it's pink to me and hopefully won't disqualify me.

If you haven't made a square or two, the drawing's over but send 'em in anyway!

Maryland Sheep & Wool 2006

Yes, I'm sure you're sick of hearing about Maryland Sheep & Wool from all the other bloggers. Sorry that immediately upon leaving the fest I went to work. Then I went home. Then I went to work for 12 hours. Then I went home. Then I went to work for 10 hours. See where I'm going here? I'm tired.

Anyway, here are my spoils:

8 oz of Jacob wool, a whole buncha really pretty laceweight, some green/brown sparkly wool (about 5 oz), woolly llama notecards and a coupla buttons.

And some kettle corn that is too shy to make an appearance. And by shy, I mean eaten. Yum.

Last year, some friends and I started what I hope will be a long and continued tradition of potlucking in the grassy parking lot. As much fun as I'm sure the lamb kebobs would have been, the chicken legs, potato salad and many cookies were equally delightful. And less expensive.

The only blogger I saw was Cara and I doubted she's remember me, so I didn't say anything to her. Oh and I ran into Stephanie and 5 other nonblog people I know. What's up with the meet 'n' greet, Sheep & Wool?

And if you want to see the sheepies and the llamasa and the bunnies, my album is here.

You might be wondering why I'm showing you this. Knitting does not normally involve yogurt. At least, not the way I do it. I don't know about you freaks.

That is money that I've been setting aside since January, tips from a side job I've been working. Grand total? $38. Well, not that much. But then, we'll add this container...

And see what I have to spend this weekend.

Note to self: Buy t-shirt for Anne
