Cell Phone Cozy

Hermes is the Greek messenger god and is symbol is the caduceus that usually graces doctors and other medical practictioners. However, I decided that I wanted to reclaim the symbol, so I used it for my cellphone, that imperious messenger.

Since Hermes is a trickster god, it usually means that when my phone rings, I have to search through everything to find it, and push the talk button half a second after voice mail picks up.

Typical.

This is knit out of some super spiffy yarn that an online friend kindly donated to the cause. It's cotton, so no static woes. It's based on this pattern, but I modified it, because my phone is small. Downsized to about 30 stitches and made a nice little button hole. I need a larger button, but oh well. The caduceus I charted out myself.

If I had to do it again, I would do several things differently.
1. Not use a 19 stitch chart over a working space of 15 stitches.
2. Not use a 3/8" button when I should have used a 1/2" button. (fixable, yes, but I'm lazy)
3. Worked the chart over the first nineteen stitches or the last nineteen stitches, not centered as it is. This makes for an awkward bindoff and as you can tell, I never actually centered it.
4. Started the chart 2 rows earlier.

But it was a great learning experience for intarsia in the round (it is possible... just not a whole lotta fun) and now my cell is protected from my purse!
