Fuzzy Gloves
Made yourself a furry scarf lately like everyone else in the free world? Got some leftovers? Terrified of actually making gloves? DPNs frighten the daylights out of you?
I have the answer for you! Make yourself a pair of fuzzy gloves! Or, more specifically, a set of fuzzy cuffs for your gloves. Find a glove that matches the color/tone of your yarn, or be daring and use a wildly contrasting color!
You'll need:
Remnant yarn (Mine is Lionbrand Fun Fur in violet)
1 pair chenille gloves (I picked mine up at AC Moore for $2)
1 size 7 needles
1 tapestry needle
Cast on 10 stitches. (Obviously, if there's wider ribbing on the cuffs, cast on more stitches, if there's less, cast on less. Eyeball it. It doesn't have to be exact).
Knit garter stitch until cuff reaches around bottom ribbing of the cuff. The 7s mean it should strecth with wearing, but test it out. Knit 2 rows past desired length, then cast off.
Make one more. Sew cast on and off edges together to create a circle. DON'T TWIST IT!!!
Whipstitch cuffs onto bottom glove ribbing using yarn. Think of this like hemming pants. You don't want to have lots of yarn running on the outside of the cuff, and not really on the inside of the gloves either. Most glove ribbing is thick- a combination of yarn and elastic and is usually doubled over. You don't have to go all the way through the glove either. Shoot for the middle ground. Keep your knots in between fuzzy cuff and glove cuff. Open the gloves every couple of inches to let your sewing yarn have sufficient slack.
And model!
