Ren Faire Pouch

Materials:
remnant ball of bulky weight cotton (50+ yards)
size 10 DPNs
big crochet hook
6 mm plastic pony beads ($1 a bag @ Michaels – this used maybe 1/3 of the bag)
tapestry needle

Pattern Stitch:
Worked Over 4 Stitches
Row 1: yfwd, slide bead to front of yarn, slip 1 purlwise, ybck, knit 3
All Even Rows: Knit
Row 3: Knit 1, yfwd, slide bead to front of yarn, slip 1 purlwise, ybck, knit 2
Row 5: Knit 2, yfwd, slide bead to front of yarn, slip 1 purlwise, ybck, knit 1
Row 7: Knit 3, yfwd, slide bead to front of yarn, slip 1 purlwise, ybck

Pattern:
String a LOT of beads onto the yarn. More than you think necessary.
CO 48 stitches over DPNs. Knit 1 row.
*Knit 6, k2tog. Repeat from * for the rest of the row.
*Knit 5, k2tog. Repeat from * for the rest of the row.
*Knit 4, k2tog. Repeat from * for the rest of the row.
Knit 1 row.
*Knit 3, increase into next stitch. Repeat from * for the rest of the row.
Knit 1 row plain
Begin pattern stitch (12 repeats per row)
Do a total of 3 repeats of the pattern stitch.
Knit 1 row.

Decreases:
Row 1: *Knit 6, k2tog. Repeat from * around
Row 2: *Knit 5, k2tog. Repeat from * around
Row 3: *Knit 4, k2tog. Repeat from * around
Row 4: *Knit 3, k2tog. Repeat from * around
Row 5: *Knit 2, k2tog. Repeat from * around
Row 6: *Knit 1, k2tog. Repeat from * around
Row 7: k2tog around

Break yarn and thread through remaining stitches. Draw closed.

With crochet hook and new yarn, chain a good amount of stitches. Break yarn and thread through final loop. Weave chain through the narrowest part of the bag at about every other stitch.

Weave in ends. Sew chain stitch string shut.
